The Habit Factor

2 weeks ago something spectacular happend — my Blackberry Storm crashed and was declared “unfixable” by the technicians at Verizon.

Hooray! Finally an excuse to obtain some new technology

Forced to make a relatively quick decision on a replacement, I decided on the Motorola Droid X.

Within minutes of having the phone at my home, I learned that I had been missing a tremendous amount of technology. Notwithstanding that, the phone actually performed the way it should — when I click an icon to run a program, the program actually functions the way it should.

Granted, the Blackberry has excellent email “push” capabilities, but the other experiences I’ve had with the device (i.e. – keyboard use, app availability and screen size) far outweigh the mere “push” Blackberry experience I’ve had for the past 2.5 years.

One of the apps I downloaded is called “The Habit Factor”. It is made by a company named Equilibrium Enterprises, Inc. The idea behind the application is that everyone must have goals to create success and in order to achieve those goals you must create habits associated with those goals and incorporate the habits into your everyday life.

The program allows you to create goals and attach deadlines to them. It then allows you to create habits that you can associate with the goals.

For example, let’s say the you want to generate 2 new listings this month via calls to Expired Listings or FSBOs. Within the program, you would create a goal with an achievement date of 2/28/2011. You would then create a habit to associate to the goals such as, “Make cold calls to Expireds and FSBOs between 9:00AM – 11:00AM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.” Once the goal and habit are input, you then have the capability of seeing how you’ve progressed via the internal tracking program provided by The Habit Factor. You can even create reports to be sent to you via email!

While some readers may not be interested in this type of accountability program, I have spoken with a few people who are currently using it and finding it quite helpful. It only takes a minute or two to set it up and the cost of the application is low ($4.99 on the Droid).

No, I’m not affiliated with Equilibrium Enterprises, Inc. in any way whatsoever, I just find this piece of software to be of tremendous value!
