A Little Time Off Pays

Sometimes we find ourselves in the midst of a “grind” that can be a little difficult to get out of.

Question: How many of you have found yourself working countless hours and seen little or no results?   Then, when you are spending a little quality time off you successfully put a deal together!

Is it coincidence? I’m not so sure that it is. You see, I find that while I am most relaxed I am most successful in whatever i am doing — whether I am working a short sale, putting together a mortgage or negotiating a real estate transaction. I find that this holds true for my personal life as well. For instance, when I’m relaxed on the putting green I find that I am much more successful than when I am uptight or anxious.

Case in point — today my 10 year old son had a golf tournament. He was feeling a little uptight so, as his caddie (and dad), it was my job to calm his nerves.   After he hit a less than desirable shot I said to him, “Pins and needles, needles and pins, it’s a happy boy that grins—- see” (a la Jackie Gleason).   I smiled after saying this —- and so did he.  He then proceeded to hit a 135 yard 9 wood 20′ from the hole.   He looked at me and said thanks dad!

The moral of the story is – RELAX! Never let anyone see you panic.  And most of all, through adversity don’t forget to listen to those around you for guidance or just for a mental vacation.
